Sickle Cell and Me

We are delighted to share a special video for children, which was thoughtfully narrated and brought to life by Anayah, Jah’niya, Jah’quan, and Layan. This creative project was made possible through a close collaboration with Wormholt Park Primary School and Addison Primary School, whose pupils played an important role in shaping the content. The production was supported by Emma Savie-Disu, Paediatric Community Haemoglobinopathy Nurse at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust, whose expertise ensured the video remained both engaging and informative.

The idea for this initiative grew from the creative vision of Lisa Canade, School Nurse, who recognised the importance of providing children with accessible, child-friendly information about haemoglobinopathies. The project was further strengthened through the encouragement and support of Nicola Ireland from the Shared Governance Programme, highlighting the value of partnership between schools, healthcare professionals, and families. Together, their combined efforts have produced a meaningful resource designed to empower children with knowledge while fostering awareness and understanding within the wider community.
